We are so excited to wlecome Helen Schafer and her wealth of experience to The May Court Club!
Helen Schäfer, one of our newer members, is no stranger to the May Court Club. She has been a “Friend of May Court” and a member of the May Court puppeteers since her retirement from the WRDSB in 2004. Helen has found entertaining the children at the various schools in the region, to be fun and rewarding. She is especially proud knowing that the proceeds from the puppet shows go directly back to the schools to fund the May Court Club’s Emergency Food Box Program.
Helen is well suited to be a puppeteer as she enjoys drama and during her teaching career took on various roles in play productions. (She once directed a play at Sunnyside Sr School in the 70’s and Alex Mustakas was the male lead!)
Although Helen has many interests and hobbies including reading, playing bridge, hiking, biking and travelling, her passion is spending time with her 5 grandchildren who keep her active and entertained.
Helen is excited to be part of a team that “selflessly provides for our community and various care organizations.” As well, she looks forward to meeting and making new friends at the May Court Club.
