How We Help

There are so many ways to support our community. We focus on fundraising initiatives and outreach programs that help women and children financially, educationally and emotionally.

Through our fundraising events, we raise meaningful donations for many organizations and individuals in the area. And our established outreach initiatives provide education, care, and food directly to those most in need of support.

FUNDRAISING

Our club is over 140 women strong and together we donate more than $130,000 annually:

Puppets

The puppet troupe travels to schools, presenting a variety of enjoyable and educational plays. Teachers who book a show will receive a booklet of curriculum-related activities. Proceeds from the puppet troupe go to various May Court Club projects. Seasonal Fundraisers

Starting in 1990, Conestoga Mall came alive with a raffle of decorated trees and other festive items. Last year we transitioned to an online peeer to peer fundraiser. To date, these seasonal undertakings have raised over $700,000 for local community projects such as St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Care Unit, Children’s Wish Foundation, and Child Witness Centre, to name a few.

Flowers

In partnership with Meadow Acres Garden Centre, May Court has held two fundraisers. Originally, members pre-sold flats of begonias, geraniums, ferns and herb gardens during the Spring planting season with profits going toward Club projects. This past year, May Court members sold coupons to be used throughout the Garden Centre during the month of May.

OUTREACH

We run effective outreach programs that offer much needed support to people in our community.

The Knitting and Sewing Clubs

May Court Club members create beautiful, warm outwear for children in need in the community. They also design Caring Shawls for fellow members and the Hospice of Kitchener Waterloo. In addition, the Knitting Club sponsors a Christmas Tea for May Court members to raise funds for our club projects. The Sewing Club lovingly stitches turbans and caps for the Grand River Cancer Centre.

Monday Evening Centre

We provide an opportunity for interaction and sharing in a relaxed atmosphere of care and concern. The Centre gives women a chance to experience new adventures and various activities including crafts, cooking, speakers and outings. Participants are encouraged to take an active role in planning programs and supporting one another.
